The business itself was brutal, and frankly agencies didn't treat their customers, or even their employees that much better than they treated their debtors. The FDCPA may have changed the rules but it takes more than a minute (in the grand scheme of things) to change 5000 years of culture.
Our story is a little different. We started back in 1990 as an accounts receivable management company, preventing accounts receivable from becoming bad debt, not as a collection agency. We used collection agencies to help our customers collect the few accounts that eventually went bad. But, after 15 years of trying, unsuccessfully, to find an agency that would really take care of our customers, we gave up and opened our own agency. Does that mean we don't have the experience the 'old' agencies have? No!
